Why does a person not make God the centre of his love? Majority of people do not make God the centre of their love. Why does this happen?
The Quran says: "The satisfaction of worldly desires is made attractive to people." (3:14)
God says in the Quran that worldly things have been beautified for man. Children, wealth, property, and so on have been beautified for man. This is why a person runs after these worldly things.
Why have these things been beautified for man? This is a price he needs to pay. If these worldly things had not been beautified, a person would have not been required to pay any price. God has made things 'other than God' very beautiful for humans.
Children, property, wealth, business, fame, political power -- all these things have been beautified by God. This is the test. A person is required to go past this curtain of false beautification. These worldly things have been bestowed with false beauty. To be able to understand this false beauty, to unveil the curtain of this false beauty, to rise above the jungle of objects for which one has false love -- this is the price to be paid. If you do so, you become a person on whom God takes pride.
How does this happen? It happens through thinking. One has to think a lot and activate his mind to a great extent. The foundation of religion rests on activating the mind. If you are able to activate your thinking process, only then you will be able to understand these truths about life. Then you will be able to become a person on whom God can take pride in the world Hereafter.
This is the price to be paid.
